It was different because I knew what to expect and just had to focus on building muscle vs. losing 50 lbs., pushing past mental blocks, eating clean for the first time ever really, figuring out time management with respect to family/work/working out and then building muscle. Yikes!
When I look back over the year it’s hard to believe how much I’ve changed, beyond merely my appearance. (Although I must note – Operation Ass Lift is working. 400 lunges a day with a 50 lb. weight is insane but delivers results.)
My confidence has grown and my family life seems more balanced. For the first time in my memory I think I might actually have a shot at maintaining a healthy lifestyle instead of doing the binge/diet thing. Do you know why?
Because I’m seriously considering becoming a personal trainer. Just typing that made me smile 🙂 Daniel loaned me his NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) text book and I’m reading nutrition books now as well.
Next week, if I am very, very lucky I might manage to win 5th place in my division (at least that’s what I’m hoping!!) But the even bigger win is that I’m healthy. It’s not a trophy to place on a mantel, but I wear it in my heart.
P.S. – But a trophy for the mantel would be totally cool…
